Overview of the RTI Implementation in the State

Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute (MATI) has been identified as the State Implementing Agency (SIA) along with two Districts Viz . West Garo Hills District,Tura and Jaintia Hills District, Jowai have been identified as the District Implementing Agencies (DIAs).

The key activities taken up are - Training and capacity building of Resource Persons, PIO/APIOs, Appellate Authorities, Civil Society Organisations, NGOs, Media Representatives. Further, Mass Awareness Campaign like TV Advertisements and Hoardings have been taken up. Handbooks on the Right to Information in the local languages i.e. Khasi and Garo as well as in english has been translated and circulated.
