Report

It has been more than three years since the Right to Information Act 2005 was passed by the Parliament. However there are many people in the rural areas who are not aware of the Act. In an effort to take RTI to the common man, MATI started a campaign called "RTI on Wheels" in the district of Jaintia hills, West Garo hills and East Garo hills. The aim of this campaign is to create awareness and help the common man to benefit by effectively using RTI . A Government vehicle loaded with IEC materials in loca l language, resource persons from the district were engaged for the purpose of spreading awareness about Right to Information.
The programmes were conducted during weekly market days and people of neighboring villages who visit the market were exposed to RTI. Special attraction of the programed were skits, street plays & songs performed by local youth to spread the message of RTI to the people. The turnout & results were overwhelming.
